It is looking like 2015 fashion will be targeting the older consumers age 50s and up.
Absolutely brilliant!
Why?
Besides the fact that some of the most powerful fashion influencer of today are above the age of 60. (Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Franca Sozzani). Fashion companies must have realized targeting the older demographic will drastically increase their sales. The average 50 plus seem to have an ample of spendable income with a lack of places to spend them.
The New York Times states a 2014 Bank of America Merrill Lynch report on the “silver economy,” found that the average wealth of 50-plus households in the United States is $765,000; the average for 50-plus households in Britain is £541,000 (about $690,000), and it’s £723,000 for ages 60 to 64. Add the shrinking spending power of the employment-challenged younger generation (you and me), and fashion’s sudden embrace is shaping up to be a bona fide trend.
Get ready, your grandmother is going to be trendier than you 😉
